Building Healthy Relationships
– This program is no longer active –
CLF will work with high school programs to engage students in a series of educational workshops to promote healthy relationships among teenagers. Specifically the project will address teen dating issues, such as violence, abuse, bullying and harassment.
We had the opportunity to partner with programs and Schools in the San Francisco and San Mateo Coastal Counties. We focused on High School students to offer workshops that build awareness and education for healthy relationships and teen dating violence. Some of the topics included Domestic Violence, Internet/Online and Sexual Harassment. We believe this is an important area, to empower young men and women with the knowledge of how to have happier and healthier lives. We see the effects of unhealthy relationships in our community over several generations and choose to be a part of ending the cycles of abuse.
We also plan to incorporate leadership development with the young men and women who participate in the workshops. We plan to do this by organizing a Youth Summit with the students for their community around this topic. They will learn basic organizing skills, working in teams and build confidence in their leadership skills.
