Beatriz Leyva-Cutler

Executive Director of BAHIA

Has been a dedicated employee of BAHIA for 37 years. Beatriz is the Chair of the Chicana/Latina Foundation, she is alumni of EMERGE California which prepares democratic women for political office and of LeaderSpring Institute which provides a two year fellowship for non-profit Executive Directors.  Since 2008, Beatriz has served on the Berkeley School Board and currently in her 3nd term as re-elected school board member. In 2010, Beatriz also served for two years as board member of the National Latino Children’s Institute, a national policy and advocacy organization focus on Latino children. She is an Advisory Board Member to Somos Familia, an advocacy group for Latino families with LGTBQ children. Beatriz holds a Masters of Arts in Leadership in Education from Pacific Oaks College and a BA from San Francisco State in La Raza Studies (now Latina/o Studies).
