Dr. Sandra Milan is a Vice President of Project Team Leadership, Molecular Oncology at Genentech’s Research and Early Development.  She is responsible for leading a group of Project Team Leaders responsible for the product development vision, strategy and execution of programs that have the potential to transform the treatment of cancer.  Dr. Milan  is responsible for setting multi-molecule, multi-indication franchise strategies and leading teams through significant risk and complexity.

Dr. Milan’s  passion for using science to fight disease and improve patient’s lives extends to developing the next generation of leaders.  She is a Founder and member of gWISE (Genentech Women in Science and Engineering).

Outside of work, Sandra serves on the Board of Directors for Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, UCLA Life Science Division,  Chabot Space & Science and Chicana Latina Foundation. Her leadership has been recognized by San Francisco Business Times 2022 Most Influential Bay Area Women and by Empower Top 50 Future leaders 2019.   

Sandra received her Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from U.C. Berkeley, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship.  Sandra held a number of leadership roles at Chiron prior to joining Genentech in 2006.
