Lupe has a Masters from the University of California, Berkeley in Social Work; Certificate of Fundraising from University of San Francisco, and is a PhD candidate working on the role of Chicanas/Latinas in the Nonprofit Sector: A Case Study of the Bay Area. As an instructor at UCB her teaching areas include: Community and Leadership Development; Fundraising and Philanthropy: and Voices and Contributions of Chicanx Latinx Cal Alumni. She has served as an advisory council member in North Fair Oaks/Redwood City; Commissioner on the Commission on the Status of Women in Berkeley; sits on the El Concilio Board of San Mateo County; and currently leads the Berkeley Latino Nonprofit Network. Among many accomplishments she has also served as chair to the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies and is currently the national administrator to Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (MALCS) a national Mujeres higher education organization; board member for the national board of Immigrant Rising and Co-founder and Co-chair of the UC Chicanx Latinx Alumni Association. Lupe is currently the Chair of the Chicana/Latina Foundation.
